To all the people who believe in justice,

We are asking your support for Lance Corporal Daniel Smith. With a simple signature we can show our support to this young man who is falsely charged with something he did not commit and now being used by other people for their own interest. Let us show that we Filipinos will fight for what we believe is right and the right thing to do is support the real victim, Daniel Smith.

God bless us all! God bless Daniel Smith!!

Thank you Secretary Gonzales

Many people hate the guts of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez
because he speaks his mind on controversial issues.
You may hate the guy, but you admire his courage for voicing out his opinion
even if it means getting all the flak. He’s no pansy like some judges or
justices who make decisions based on the prevailing public opinion. Okay, the
guy could be wrong in his opinions. “Wrong” is a relative term. What is wrong
today could become right tomorrow.
Remember, the great Sen. Claro M. Recto was hated for his nationalistic
views. Everybody thought... (more)

I've received hate mail for my opinion on the controversial Nicole rape case! One e-mail sender even said that he hoped what happened to Nicole would happen to my daughter. To that person, I have this reply: If what happened to Nicole happened to one of my daughters (there are several of them), I would tell her to shut up because she had it coming to her. When you sleep with a crocodile, be prepared to get eaten. Why should my daughter, if she got into that situation, cry rape when she went willingly with the guy who supposedly raped her? If my daughter said she was... (more)

BEARING gifts, they traveled from within and outside Metro Manila to wish a jailed United States soldier well. From as far away as Olongapo City, Pampanga and Cavite to as near as Quezon City, supporters of Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith began arriving at the Makati City Jail yesterday afternoon to offer gifts, letters and books to the Marine, convicted for raping a Filipino woman last year. Delivering on their promised holiday celebration for Smith, members of the Justice for Dan Smith group also lit 23 candles for the soldier, representing each day that Smith has been... LANCE Corporal Daniel Smith is back in conditions "certainly better than a jail,'' looking forward to a visit from his family this month, and finding comfort in a two-inch stack of Christmas cards from people who believe he is innocent of raping a Filipino woman. But the convicted US Marine now sleeps in a room different from where he earlier stayed and where his co-accused buddies had claimed seeing "ghosts,'' according to his spiritual adviser, Fr. James Reuter. The 90-year-old American Catholic priest, who has maintained early on that Smith was wrongfully convicted, shared... (more)

AS RAPE convict Lance Corporal Daniel Smith cools his heels at the Makati City Jail (MCJ), a group is quietly praying that he will soon prove his innocence. Led by a Filipino woman married to a US Navy man, the group simply called "Supporters of Daniel Smith" is preparing to hold a vigil for the jailed US Marine. "It's a group of military wives, expats (expatriates) and other Filipinos -- bank employees, lawyers, men, women, daughters, grandmothers -- who support Smith. This is the voice of Filipino women, not of that rape victim and her supporters,"... (more)

Reaching out from detention, American rape convict Daniel Smith sent a message of thanks to his supporters who helped him pull through his first jailhouse Christmas through a shower of gifts and goodies, his lawyer said. In a handwritten letter, electronically scanned copies of which were e-mailed to the media by the detained US Marine's lawyer, Smith expressed his gratitude to strangers who sent him treats on Christmas Day and the past weeks. It was not clear if the lawyers had also -emailed the letter to other people. "To all the people who took their time... (more)

DESPITE their meager numbers, supporters of a United States Marine jailed for rape will start nightly vigils at the Makati city jail, an activity they vowed to keep up until the Marine was returned to US custody. Grace Santos, head of the group “Supporters of Daniel Smith,” said on Sunday the organization, starting Monday night, would begin nightly candle-lighting and prayer rites for the 21-year-old Marine lance corporal who had been held at the Makati city jail since Dec. 4 after he was convicted by a Makati court of rape. “If he will still be at the city jail......
